Why should I hire California Green Clean verses hiring an independent cleaning person?
There are many reasons that hiring California Green Clean is the preferable choice. Things to consider:
  • All of our staff go through a rigorous hiring process and are professionally trained. The first step in the hiring process is sitting down with the potential employee to determine if the manager. Only those select few individuals that can be envisioned cleaning the manager's own home home are invited to go further. The next step is to read and learn the cleaning manual that explains, in detail, the way cleaning is performed according to the California Green Clean standards. Next a video, produced in-house, is watched which re-enforces the manual. A written test is then taken to ensure the concepts have been learned. At this point the applicant undergoes an independent drug test along with a background check. Next the new employee is paired with a lead cleaner for field training. Field training lasts for a period of time determined by the experience, comfort level and speed of learning of the new cleaner. The cleaner is released to work independently once the lead cleaner and along with management deem them competent.
  • You don't have to worry about hiring your prospective cleaner including running expensive background checks, drug tests and reference checks. In addition, the IRS requires that payroll taxes and social security must be withheld from your "employee's" pay.
  • You don't have to worry about payroll taxes. You may rest assured that there is no violation of any state or federal tax laws pertaining to employment of home service professionals.
  • If a problem ever arises, you can take your concerns directly to the management team of California Green Clean. California Green Clean proudly stands behind the quality of our work. On the rare occasion an issue does arise, we quickly work to a resolution. Issues with the quality of work can be a very sensitive area when you have hired an individual to clean your home.


Does California Green Clean offer a guarantee?
Yes. We offer a comprehensive satisfaction guarantee with each visit.  We are human and rare mistakes do happen. If we do fall short of your expectations, let us know within 24 hours and we will return at your convenience.

How much will it cost to clean my home?

Here at California Green Clean, we price our services according to our client's needs. For those clients that desire to set up regular ongoing service for all scheduled cleanings, we can either charge by the room or by the hour- your choice. An in home appointment is scheduled for a representative to come out and walk your home and complete a no-obligation estimate.

An hourly rate is charged for clients that desires a one time cleaning- those include customized cleanings, deep cleaning and on call service.
One time service is typically considered a spring cleaning, custom cleaning, move in or move out cleaning, post construction or deep cleaning. We are able to work up an estimate for one time service via telephone to approximate the cost based on your individual needs. Please call our or email our office for more details.

This rate includes all of our eco-friendly products, equipment and cleaning methods of the California Green Clean system. This ensures your home is thoroughly cleaned in an environmentally responsible manner that is much healthier for you and those you care about including your pets along with the environment. Your cleaner is a well trained professional who is background check and drug tested. They are covered with a bond, liability and worker's compensation insurance.


Will it cost the same amount every regularly scheduled cleaning?

California Green Clean charges different rates for different service frequencies. Weekly is less expensive than bi-weekly and monthly is more expensive than bi-weekly service. Bi-weekly service costs 20% more than weekly service. Monthly cleanings typically cost an additional 50% to 75% more than a bi-weekly cleaning. If serviced monthly, the home becomes significantly dirtier between cleanings. Our experience has shown it takes much longer to clean a home that is cleaned on a monthly basis versus being serviced weekly or bi-weekly.

When we first meet with you, we will assess the condition of your home. Our initial cleaning most always cost more. We charge first time cleanings at an hourly rate to bring the home into a good condition.

For clients establishing regular service, an addition to the initial cleaning fee is the cost of a set of their own color coded micro-fiber cloths. The cost varies depending on the size of the home and the number of micro-fibers cloths needed. Typically, the range is $20 to $40. The environmentally friendly micro-fiber cloths are kept in your home to prevent cross contamination with other client's homes. The cleaner will place them in the washing machine, if desired by the client, as one of their last duties. We ask our clients to dry them and place them where they will be easily found  during the next cleaning.


Who cleans my home?
California Green Clean prefers to send  a single cleaner into your home. We also make every attempt to send the same person every cleaning. This offers peace of mind as you become familiar with the person, their work and character. It is comforting to know the same person is in your home cleaning after cleaning. Upon request, we will send a team of two cleaners.

There are times when we cannot send the client's regular cleaner. Cleaner's get sick, take vacation or leave California Green Clean. When there is a permanent change of cleaner, we check in to make sure the transition went smoothly and our client is satisfied with the new cleaner's work. When a cleaner is sick or has sick children, which does not happen often, we notify the client as soon as possible. We can either send a substitute cleaner or the regular cleaner when they return to work. California Green Clean has a policy of not sending our cleaners to a client's house if they have a significant cough or fever. We do not want to make a client or their family sick!


Do you guarantee a day and time for my cleaning?
We will guarantee the specific day for your scheduled cleaning. Morning clients have a 30 minute arrival window. We all know traffic can be challenging in the morning! For afternoon appointments, we will make every effort to arrive within a 2 hour window of the time we are scheduled. The reason we schedule a two hour arrival time window is that on occasion the first client's home will take longer than expected.  We do not leave until the job is done- for you and for other clients! If a situation arises where we will miss the two hour window, you will be contacted.


What happens if I need to reschedule?
Please contact the California Green Clean office a minimum of 48 hours before your cleaning. If possible, we prefer even more advance notice. We book our clients into specific time blocks and do not overbook. To retain our hard working, talented and professional staff, their earnings must be consistent. When we are unable to fill the cleaner's schedule due to short notice cancellation it directly affects the cleaner's paycheck. Therefore, we will charge a $70 cancellation fee to those clients that do not cancel before the 48 hour period so we may pay the cleaner. Thank you for understanding!


How do I let the housekeeper into my home?

This is up to you. We prefer not to keep keys. To allow access into your home you may purchase a lock box and place the key in it and give the cleaner the code, put the key in a hidden location or be home to let the cleaner in. If you decide to hide a key hidden on premises, be sure and do not forget to leave it. If you cleaners arrives and can not gain access to your home the $70 cancellation fee is assessed.


What should I do about my alarm?

We can keep your alarm code in an encrypted, password protected file in our office computer. If you desire, you may set a temporary code for the staff person. You can also choose to leave the alarm off and leave the code for the housekeeper to reset upon leaving your home. The choice is yours to make. Please, it is imperative that you communicate with us on this matter! It is traumatic for the cleaner (and you when you get the call) to inadvertently set off a client's alarm.


What should I do with my pets?

We must learn about all pets when establishing your service schedule. We may request your pets be restricted from the areas in which we are cleaning, although this is not required unless your pet is unfriendly to strangers.


Are my valuables safe?

If you have special valuables, please put them away or instruct us not to touch them. Closed drawers and doors are a signal to us to stay out of the area unless specific directions are given. California Green Clean carries a fidelity bond for our cleaners. Also, the cleaner is back-ground checked and drug tested by an independent service before being hired. A minimum of three references are checked for character and work history. If there is a hint of a troubled background, the applicant is not hired.

Are you bonded, and insured?
Yes. We are bonded, and insured.

Do I provide the cleaning products?
As part of the California Green Clean system, we supply all of the environmentally friendly cleaning products needed to clean your home. Please be assured the products we use are excellent at cleaning. We also utilize four level filtration vacuums that are certified by the American Lung Association to not pollute your indoor air. In addition, our clients purchase the  supply of microfiber cloths that are brought to your home during your first cleaning (for regularly scheduled clients). For one time cleanings we use California Green Clean's freshly laundered micro-fiber and mop heads.

On occasion, a client will desire for us to use a specific  product or piece of equipment (typically a vacuum) that is on hand. This is perfectly acceptable. Please communicate this to the company representative and the cleaner upon arrival.


How do I pay for my cleaning?

You may pay by on-line bill pay, cash, credit card, or check. We prefer bill pay, cash or check as opposed to credit card. However, if a credit card on file works best for you that is perfectly acceptable. We do not like paying that expensive service fee to the credit card companies. For your peace of mind, once we enter your credit card number into our encrypted virtual credit card processing machine, we are only able to see the last four digits. We do not keep hard copy receipts with your credit card number in our office. If paying by check or cash, please leave it in an obvious place for your cleaner. More and more clients are paying through their online bank account service or bill pay. Please notify the office if this is the case. Please note we do require payment at time of service, unless prior arrangements are made, as we do not bill. A fee will be accessed for all returned checks.

What about gratuities?
Gratuities are not required or requested, but always appreciated by your cleaner. If you feel that your cleaner provided excellent service and deserves something extra, feel free to tip. A cash tip is preferred by the cleaner so they do not have to have taxes withheld.
